The Eighth International Workshop on Matrices and Statistics
Tampere, Finland

An afternoon full of PhD students

A specific session on recent PhD- and post-PhD-work on matrices and statistics will be arranged on Friday afternoon, the 6th of August 1999. PhD students (or those who recently have completed it) wishing to explain their work, should contact the Workshop Secretary by March 1st, 1999 and submit the abstract by April 10th, 1999.

In particular, the Local Organizing Committee will support three foreign speakers of this Session by covering at least their local expenses (+ hopefully part of their travelling expenses). Those wishing to get support, should submit (preferably in electronic form)

(1) a summary of their topic (max 5 pages) to the Workshop Secretary, and
(2) a supervisor's reference letter,
(3) a short CV,

at their earliest convenience, but not later than by March 1st, 1999 (should reach the Workshop Secretary by then).
