I work as a researcher in the Speech-based and Pervasive Interaction research group, within the Tampere Unit for Computer-Human Interaction (TAUCHI). In addition I participate in user-centered design and evaluation projects as a consultant and project manager at our usability laboratory.
I received my M.Sc. in Computer Science from University of Tampere in 2004 and I'm currently a Ph.D. student in the UCIT Graduate School in User-Centered Information Technology, where my research advisor is Professor Kari-Jouko Räihä. The topic of my dissertation research is facilitation of mobile information access with innovative user interface solutions.
I'm also interested in understanding how people interact with information, especially through interactive information visualization interfaces. Towards that end I'm always looking to learn more about information visualization design methods and processes, and new software architectures for supporting rapid prototyping of visualizations. My current research outside of the PhD work is focused on multimodal interfaces for communication and information access.
I've worked on various projects with CSCW and visualization emphasis over there years, trying to come up with new ways to support collaborative processes in work groups and knowledge work with information visualization techniques.
Check out the research section for more information about my ongoing projects.
